Lifter Tùng wins four golds at Asian youth champs

HÀ NỘI — Đỗ Tú Tùng won four gold medals at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship in North Korea on Monday.

The  一 五-year-old competed in both youth and junior U 五 五kg for boys.

On the first day of competition, Tùng triumphed at the youth level with three titles in snatch ( 一0 九kg), clean and jerk ( 一 三 七kg) and total ( 二 四 六kg).

His results in the snatch and total were tournament records.

He was followed by two North Korean athletes.

His results were the same in the junior level where he was against athletes at the age of  一 八- 一 九.

Then he topped the clean and jerk to secure his fourth title.

He was second in total and third in snatch.

In March, Tùng competed in the World Youth and Junior Championships and earned three golds in the U 四 九kg in the US.

In the girl's U 四 五kg category for junior, Vietnamese Phạm Đình Thi won twice in the snatch ( 九 四kg) and total ( 一 六 五kg) and secured silver in the ( 七 一kg).

Her tea妹妹ate Khổng Mỹ Phượng won the clean and jerk with a lift of  七 五kg. She also scored a silver in the total ( 一 六 一kg) and a bronze in the snatch ( 八 六kg).

Việt Nam also took two silvers and three bronzes in other categories on Monday.

In the following days, other Vietnamese athletes will compete for more titles, including Lý Quang Vinh and Bùi Đình Sang (boys'  六 一kg), Võ Thị Ngọc Thanh (girl's  四 九kg), Nguyễn Thị Thủy Tiên (girl's  五 五kg), and Lâm Thị Mỹ Lệ (girl's  六 四kg).

The Asian championship will be held until this Sunday in Pyongyang. It has drawn athletes from  一 六 countries and territories.
